"I want more support options"

We’re trialing Live Chat on our website and improving our Help Centre to make it faster and easier to find what you need. We’re also working on better ways to notify you of service disruptions and offer more proactive support when something goes wrong.

“I want more self-service options"

We're working to improve the reporting experience on your terminal and soon you will be able to customise your own receipting set-up directly from the terminal. 

"How does billing work?"

We bill monthly, in advance, on the same day your contract started. We’re taking a closer look at how we manage renewals and working to make billing options easier to understand. Learn more about billing in our Help Centre here.

What is happening with 'Paywave' fees and surcharging?

Contactless and credit card fees aren’t set by us. They’re determined by the card networks and passed on to you by your bank. The Commerce Commission has announced that Interchange Fees, which make up the largest portion of these costs, will be capped from December 2025. This should lead to a meaningful reduction in what you pay. To help you manage these costs, we offer surcharging functionality. From May 2026, new government regulations will restrict surcharging on some transaction types. We’ll make sure your solution remains compliant and will communicate directly with you before anything changes.

Can I set different surcharges for credit vs debit?

You can’t separate “credit” vs “debit,” but you can apply different rates by card type (e.g. Visa vs Amex).

Where do I check for service outages?

Our support site is updated whenever there’s an active, widespread issue.

Can I use my terminal offsite?

Yes! If your terminal has a SIM or WiFi connection, you can accept payments on the go. 

What is Verifone Central?

It’s our merchant reporting and administration portal. Learn more here. 

Can I skip the surcharge prompt when customers tap their cards?

You can remove the surcharge prompt for contactless payments contact us for setup. 

Can I enter an invoice number when processing a purchase?

Yes — just use the Merchant Reference field on the Purchase screen. Get step by step instructions here.
